Writing: A Tool for Life

In the past twelve weeks I have worked toward writing a research paper that required my subject to have a scientific controversy. This was a fun and challenging experience. Putting sentences together should be a simple elementary task to accomplish but I have learned that that those simple little words did not do a thing for the content of my paper except take up space. I learned how to revise my sentences to delete those small words and still have a proper sentences. I have also learned how to properly use commas, semicolons, and colons. Those were probably the most confusing for me because I always thought separations in ideas of a sentence should be done with the comma; so untrue.
Writing was once a very scary task for me.This course has really helped me to see beyond my fear and use writing more as a tool than a chore. Thanks to all my fellow classmates and the wonderful professor that helped me get there!

My Final Paper!

Well here it is, the last two weeks of my College Comp II class and I am feeling very good about the paper I have written. I am in the final stages of completing the paper; just a few more adjustments to make and I'll be ready. I have learned so much since the start of this writing class. I was very nervous in the beginning, but 8 weeks later, my paper has really seemed to fall in place with all the helpful tips from my fellow classmates and my professor. I could not have put this paper together without them. This class has been a great pleasure and a wonderful learning experience.

Blogging on blog spot

When I started this blog, it was totally done for the sake of my grade in College Comp II. When the course is over and done, I really do not see me taking it any further; unless I end up with another course that should require me to use the blog again. I am really a more personal person and do not care for publishing my thoughts on the web. Using the blog has most definitely been an experience to remember, though. I have learned what I need to know about it and it really is not an interest for me, it's more of a pass time, of which, that kind of time I do not have right now. It has been a pleasure to have at least been able to experience blog writing even though I have no intention of continuing it.

Peer Reviews

During my experience in online college, I have had great help from my classmates. In these courses it a requirement to take part in a discussion each week, consisting of specific questions on specific subjects. These discussions are helpful because classmates are required to respond to the original responses of fellow classmates. The responses can really help in understanding subjects that you are not sure of or in writing classes, it can be helpful for classmates to read outlines and the paper itself to give advice on organizing information within a student paper before it is to be turned in. These discussions are also helpful because while reading chapters different people take things in different ways, so it can help to see different points. These discussions are my favorite part of the online college experience.

My final paper in comp 2

I am writing a paper in my comp 2 class on fluoridation in water. I have learned so much about the topic that has been surprising to me. The topic of fluoride is not one that I had put prior thought into except that it was in our toothpaste and it was used to fight cavities. Since researching this topic, I have come to learn that there is much more to fluoride than what is actually put into the eyes of the public. I have found out that I have always pushed my kids to drink lots of water and make sure they brush their teeth to fight one problem but have found that there are diseases that can occur from to much fluoride intake. I now question myself to whether I have been doing good or harm to myself and my kids.

My life in school

School has been a great experience for me, but it has also been time consuming. I have rearranged my life style in many ways. I now cram time and chores into small spans. It sometimes can also be hard to juggle family around my limited time but I cannot ignore the fact that I am a mother and I have to take care of the family no matter what. I often stay up late and get up early in order to make time for all my daily activities, otherwise there would be nothing done; not the chores, not the job, not the husband and kids. Just a while longer in my college journey!

Importance of citing

It is important, when writing a research paper, to give credit to the author of the information being used in the paper being written. When information is used and it does not give proper credit, it is basically stealing their work or plagiarizing. Using citations also allows a reader to know where the information came from and it also helps the reader to know that reliable sources were used for the information in the research paper.

Online college experience

For the last ten months, I have had the joy of being an online college student. It has been an exciting experience. I have wanted to go to college since I had graduated but I ended up married and pregnant right after school, so my plans were put on hold until it just did not seem it would ever come at all. Here I am, Twenty three years down the road, and I am absolutely loving the chance to finally go back to school and earn a degree.
Online classes give me the ability to change my time schedule as I need to. I do not have to miss out on activities that my children are a part of. I can go online and into class at any part of the day or night, which is very convenient. I also believe that, in an online class, I have had the opportunity the get to know my classmates more than I ever would have had I been going into the actual college for the class. There are so many different ways to interact with everyone in the class. What a great experience online college has been!
